First, a recap of the topline data for the entire coterie of working royals, as measured by the number of official engagements in the Court Circular. During 2023, the royals undertook 2,422 official engagements:

  1. King Charles III: 483

  2. Princess Anne: 459

Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh

Solid. Workhorses. Reliable. Dependable. Together, the three completed 1,006 engagements, which is 42 percent of the total for all 11 royals in 2023.

The King’s siblings and sister-in-law were just behind Charles III at the top of the list of the working Windsors in 2023. That’s also how they ended 2022, though that year Sophie was in the No. 3 spot while Edward was in the fourth. As well, the three all do between 73 and 81 percent of their work outside palace walls, among the highest of all the working royals.
