The princess passed a notable milestone as the couple slowly pick up the pieces of their working lives

A year ago today, everything changed. At 6 pm. on Friday, March 22, Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales was undergoing preventative chemotherapy for cancer discovered in tests after a serious abdominal operation she’d had two months earlier. The information came from Kate herself, who recorded a video message at Windsor Castle.
The message abruptly ended weeks of increasingly fantastical and hysterical rumours and misinformation about her health and why she hadn’t been seen in public. Also, for those wondering if there weren’t more nefarious motives behind the viral nature of those absolutely bonkers social media posts, the BBC reported that Russian agencies had amplified the waves of fake stories about Kate as a way to destabilize the monarchy, which is openly supportive of Ukraine.
William and Kate are still picking up the pieces of their lives, both at home and at work. While their workloads are still not back to where they were before 2024, the Prince and Princess of Wales have passed some notable milestone on the road back.
