Two cathedrals down, two to go
Taking a short break from the reality of being a freelance journalist
I’m in Britain for a combined vacation-work trip.
My travelling companion and I have built a particularly cathedral-heavy itinerary for this trip. We’ve already visited two, with two more to come.
To visit the glorious Wells Cathedral, we took an hour-long train trip and then a 90-minute local bus odyssey through the Somerset countryside. Then the reverse at the end of a long day.
The advantage of undertaking such a trip in November is that the usual flocks of tourists that crowd most cathedrals are largely absent. The disadvantage is that there’s often a lot of rain this time of year. Thank goodness for wool shirts and waterproof shoes.
So it’s no surprise that the weather wasn’t great on Friday when I did a live Zoom interview with Global’s The Morning Show from Salisbury.
We travel to London on Sunday for the more royal-focused part of the trip, including seeing some fabulous royal tiaras.
I’ll post on a lighter schedule than usual until my return to Canada.
